BAND BOOSTERS OF TALLADEGAExecutive Board: 2008-2009
The Band Boosters of Talladega utilizes various committees that support the band program. If you are interested in helping make the Talladega Bands the best they can be please contact an Executive Board Member or a Committee Chair listed below. Consider helping when you can throughout the year!! Committees: Band Boosters Communication Committee – This committee consists of the Secretary and the three Class Representatives who shall be responsible for contacting parents who have children enrolled in the band to promote Band Booster Club participation. This committee is responsible for sending out electronic announcements, establishing and maintaining a telephone “tree “, calling the radio station to give them information when needed, and the following sub-committees; Newsletter – Responsible for preparing and sending the monthly newsletter and the Publicity Committee - Responsible for leading and coordinating the publicity of activities of the T.H.S. Band and Band Boosters. ANDREA MONTGOMERY, CHAIR; ERIKA HAMMONDS, TIM BURK, TOMMY MCCOLLUM, CLASS REPRESENTATIVES.
Ways and Means Committee - This committee is responsible for raising funds to help support the band program and establish the Band Boosters of Talladega Corporate Sponsorship program.
Concession Stand Committee - The membership of this committee will comprise the Vice-president and members appointed by the Vice-President of the club. The Vice-President will be responsible for the general operation and maintaining of the concession stand and making up a work schedule for all the members of the club. Each parent is encouraged to work their fair share of time in all fund-raising activities. The Vice-President is to oversee/be responsible for both concession stands each night that they are in operation. CHAIR
Chaperone Committee - This committee is responsible for making sure that an appropriate number of chaperones are working to monitor student behavior as described by the T.H.S. Student Handbook. Chaperones are needed at all band functions such as: band camp, practices, football games, competitions, festivals, and any other functions where we travel as a group. Equipment Committee - This committee is responsible for transporting band equipment to and from all band performances. This includes getting “pit” equipment on the field for marching performances.
Historian Committee
- This committee is responsible for making video recordings and taking still
pictures of the students at all band events. The duties include: running video
cameras, taking pictures, and collecting pictures, organizing and creating the
year-end scrapbook and CD scrapbook for each band year. Hospitality Committee - This committee is responsible for making arrangements for refreshments at events throughout the year, organizing, planning, coordinating and cleaning up the end of the year band banquet and other miscellaneous projects such as greeting visiting bands as they arrive at the stadium etc. MELBA STRICKLAND (256-362-3136).
Sewing Committee – This committee is responsible for obtaining designs from instructors on costumes and flags, estimates on material and organizing the completion of said costumes and flags. The sewing committee works closely with the uniform committee.
Uniform Committee - This committee is responsible for the uniforms and concert attire worn by the band. The responsibilities include: fitting, distributing, alterations and cleaning of band uniforms, costumes and concert attire. LINDA LACKEY, CHAIR (268-9881).
